Wenger never considered dropping the German ahead of today’s fine display against Aston Villa.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he never considered dropping playmaker Mesut Ozil despite his recent patchy run of form, report the Mail, after the German international dominated the game during the Gunners’ emphatic 3-0 victory at Aston Villa today.

Ozil scored once and also notched up an assist as the Gunners blew Villa away in a four-minute first half period that saw them find the back of the net three times, with the former Real Madrid superstar looking like a different one that toiled against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City in the last seven days.
Wenger, however, has said that he always had faith in Ozil to deliver once again and didn’t consider dropping the German to the bench:
“Not really no, I have many offensive players and you look to find the right balance. I gave (Alexis) Sanchez a rest because he’s played many games and we have many experienced players who are top quality.”
“You have to show him the confidence is there and he showed he can respond when he was under scrutiny. It’s always a sensitive point, you don’t know how people respond to that.”
