The Gunners ended their hoodoo against fellow top four sides today.
It has been a long side since Arsene Wenger and Arsenal got the better of one of their top four rivals in recent seasons, but goals from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud were enough to earn the Gunners a stunning win at the Etihad Stadium, home of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, today.

Wenger’s side have often been criticised for a lack of organisation and discipline in these big matches in the past, but those traits were very much in evidence today and typified by the fine performance of young defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin, who has only recently returned from a loan spell at Charlton Athletic.
The Gunners manager agreed with that assessment, and moved to praise his side following the final whistle:
“I felt that we were well-disciplined, well-organised, had a good solidarity and overall we kept a good control of the game.”
