Arsenal are preparing themselves for a bid for Nacho Monreal from AS Roma, reports Football Direct News.
The Serie A club are interested in the Gunners’ Spanish left-back, who is very much a rotation option at the Emirates despite the fact he’s a full international.
Roma are themselves expected to lose their current left-back Dodo, who has had an excellent 2014, and is interesting Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United. For this reason, they think Monreal could be an affordable, and realistic replacement option.
Monreal struggles for consistent game time with the Gunners, with Arsene Wenger preferring English left-back Kieran Gibbs, and occasionally even converted centre-half Thomas Vermaelen. As a result, the 28-year-old has only made ten Premier League starts this term, and Arsenal could be happy to cash in on the player while he still has a decent resale value.
