“I can’t help it if I’m just that popular.” Will Arsenal allow Mesut Ozil to leave so easily?
Arsenal midfield star Mesut Ozil is coming off yet another strong season – so strong, in fact, that he’s getting looks from the Serie A champions.
According to the Metro, reports from Italy suggest that Juventus are lining up a big-time bid for Arsenal’s ace midfielder with a possible £29 million fee considered all that’s necessary to complete the move. Juventus’ need for a superstar in the middle comes on the heels of the club losing Carlos Tevez and Andrea Pirlo with megastar Paul Pogba also expected to leave sooner rather than later.
Juventus’ recent signing of ex-Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira was viewed by the Metro as a possible enticement for Ozil, with the 28-year-old German midfielder considered a good friend of Arsenal’s superstar.
That isn’t to say, however, that Arsenal are poised to sell. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly feels Ozil can be the centerpiece of his starting XI and could put him in the No. 10 role to make the team his.
