Wenger says Dane could feature against West Brom.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Nicklas Bendtner is in line for a start in the Capital One Cup clash at West Brom on Wednesday.
The Dane has not played a competitive match for the Gunners for over two years after spending the last two seasons on loan at Sunderland and then Juventus but was on the bench for the 3-1 Premier League win over Stoke on Sunday.
Bendtner was unable to seal a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer despite being linked with clubs in Germany and Holland, plus Crystal Palace, after Arsenal blocked the 25-year-old’s departure having failed to sign a new striker.
But in his manager’s email which was sent out to fans, Wenger confirmed the Danish striker could play at the Hawthorns:
“We have a Capital One Cup game at West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday and I will rotate the team, of course. Nicklas Bendtner has a chance to be involved.”
Bendtner failed to find the net during a dismal loan spell at Juventus last season and has not scored for Arsenal in 30 months, since grabbing an FA Cup hattrick against Leyton Orient.
The forward last played for the club in August 2011 in a 2-0 defeat against Liverpool.
