Arsenal may have moved a step closer to signing Douglas Costa as Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu admits the Brazilian could leave.
The Gunners have been linked with the 23-year-old for some time and whilst Shakhar value the Brazilian at £40m, the North London outfit are hoping for a loan move.
However, they will weigh up the prospect of a permanent deal if Lukas Podolski is sold this summer and they have now been given renewed hope.
“I am sure that things will come to the fore in the next few weeks,” Lucescu was quoted by the Metro.
“For me, all the players are transferable for the right price. Every year, some players go and some players arrive.
“It’s normal that players will want to leave at some point.”
Costa generally operates as a right winger, but can also play on the left and in attacking midfield and would bolster what is already an impressive unit in the final third for manager Arsene Wenger.
The South American has grown unsettled in Ukraine due to the political unrest, despite the fact his team are training and playing well away from Donetsk where some of the trouble has been.
If signed Costa would become Wenger’s fifth new signing of the summer along with Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers.
