Henry also had some choice words on Mesut Ozil’s contribution during big games after the Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw.
Using the example of Chelsea, Henry pointed out that on not winning the title last term, Jose Mourinho spent a significant total by purchasing Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and bringing back Thibaut Courtois from his loan at Atletico Madrid to ensure they were more competitive this campaign.
It certainly seems to have worked with Chelsea almost certain of a first Premier League title in five years, if they can earn two wins in their last five games, and Henry thinks Arsene Wenger should do something similar.
“I think they need to buy four players – they need that spine. They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre-back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I’m afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again,” he said on Sky Sports following the game.
“You had the best example with Chelsea here today. They were struggling last season to win the league. They went on to buy Cortouis, Matic, Cesc and Costa.”
On Giroud, Henry said: “I think Giroud is doing extremely well. But can you win the league with him? I wouldn’t think so.
“He does a job, and he does it ever so well, but you can’t win the league.
“Arsenal were at the top of the league last season, but everyone was saying they are not going win the league.
The Frenchman also singled out Mesut Ozil for criticism saying that his record against top four rivals wasn’t up to scratch.
In his eight game against such an opponent, Henry pointed out the German had just two assists and no goals.
And looking at his stats compared to ex-Gunner Cesc Fabregas, who Arsenal could have signed last summer, Henry highlight how Ozil had managed only 14 assists in his almost two year Emirates career so far, whilst Fabregas had 16 already this season.
