The Welshman is set to be rewarded for great form with a new five-year deal.
Aaron Ramsey is set to become the second highest paid player at Arsenal behind club record signing Mesut Ozil with a new five-year deal in excess of £100,000-a-week, reports the Guardian.
The midfielder had a brilliant 2013 with the Gunners and was instrumental in the side’s superb start to the current season, with 13 goals and seven assists in 27 matches this term.
However, Ramsey has not played in 2014 due to a thigh injury and manager Arsene Wenger will be wanting the 23-year-old back in the starting XI as soon as possible.
The Wales international’s current contract was signed in December 2012 and doesn’t expire until 2016, but Wenger is keen to reward the player with a new deal that more than doubles his current wages.
It will be the fourth contract that Ramsey has signed since being at the Emirates Stadium, having joined from Cardiff City in 2007 for £5m.
This goes to show just how much progress the midfield ace has made since that move, with many questioning the player’s capability, as well as having to overcome a leg break that ruled the former Bluebirds man out for over a year.
It also shows that Wenger does not want to lose someone who has been touted by the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Real Madrid in recent times.
However, with senior figures such as Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker at the club it may come as a shock to some that Ramsey is being paid so much.
