Montero hints that a move to Europe is on the cards.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has targeted Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero as one of his summer signings, and the 24-year old has now handed the Gunners’ fans some potentially positive news by confirming his exit from Mexico.
Montero, who currently plays for Mexican club Monarcas Morelia, was quoted saying in the Daily Express; “It’s certain that I’ll leave the league, but let’s see where I’ll go. We expect to sort it out within the next few days.
“I can tell you that it won’t be Mexico. It will be Europe and thank God we are working on it, I hope it works out.”
The speedy winger may well be on his way to Arsenal after reports suggested that the Gunners were in talks with him over a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal could do with another specialist winger in their squad as the English duo of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the only out and out wingers in their squad, which also comprises of several other versatile players like Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski, who can fill-in in the wide positions.
Montero is very experienced at the international level, having already netted eight goals in 43 games at a quite a young age.
