Cabaye has struggled to establish himself at the Parc des Princes ever since returning to France in January in a £19m transfer from Newcastle.
The 28-year-old is competing with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti for a place in central midfield and Pastore says the Frenchman wants more game time and could leave to find it.
“I don’t think that he wants to leave but it’s true that we have a lot of midfielders,” the Argentina international was quoted by the Mirror.
“I hope he will make the best possible choice for him: either leave to get a game or stay here and earn his place.”
Arsenal are long-term admirers of Cabaye and tried to sign the France international in the summer of 2013, but the deal fell through over the Magpies’ asking price.
Therefore this revelations from Pastore is likely to come as music to their ears as they search for midfield recruitment in the January transfer window.
