Gunners make loan bid for experienced midfielder.

Arsenal could look to the loan signing of AC Milan star Nigel de Jong in a bid to solve their crisis in midfield, according to CaughtOffside.
The 29-year-old, formerly of Manchester City, could be available for a small loan fee this summer, and it is thought that the Gunners are already in official talks with Milan over a deal to bring him to the Emirates Stadium for the 2014/15 campaign.
This comes after news of Mikel Arteta’s injury blow, which could see the Spaniard sit out the next two weeks or more, including some difficult early-season games for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Arsenal had been tracking a new signing in midfield anyway, with big names such as Sami Khedira and William Carvalho of Real Madrid and Sporting Lisbon respectively also being linked with the north London giants for much of this transfer window.
However, failure to agree deals for these more ambitious targets has seen Wenger turn to a long-time favourite of his in de Jong, who has the necessary experience and battling qualities to really strengthen his side’s midfield options.
