Arsenal are in discussions with Anderlecht over the potential transfer of Cheikhou Kouyate, reports the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old defender has recently become an attractive option for English clubs because he has a Belgian passport, and Arsenal, West Ham and Liverpool are all competing for his signature.
His agent Saffet Balkan has admitted to talks with two Premier League clubs so far.
“I have met representatives from Arsenal and West Ham over Kouyate in Belgium. We are currently in talks,” he said.
“I will also meet with representatives from Galatasaray and CSKA in Istanbul later today to discuss an offer for Kouyate,” He told Turkish-football.com.
The Senegalese centre-half is strong, quick and powerful – and enjoyed the best season of his career last time out with Belgium’s most famous club Anderlecht.
Arsenal currently have Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker as a solid first-choice central defensive option, so Kouyate would likely come in as cover for the partnership.
