Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of Petr Cech has been talked down by Arsene Wenger this week, handing the impetus back to Paris Saint Germain, who now look favourites to seal a deal for the Chelsea goalkeeper.

The Czech Republic international looks certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, having fallen out of favour with the Blues, who now consider Thibaut Courtois to be their first choice stopper.
As a result, the Gunners were widely tipped to complete their move for the player, who has reportedly been interesting them for some time. However, the Daily Mirror now says otherwise, with Wenger instead retaining his confidence in his current keepers.
Speaking earlier this week, he said: “I don’t deal with the ‘if’. We have world-class goalkeepers, we’ve got three.”
His statement comes despite David Ospina’s high-profile mistake against Swansea City which cost the Gunners their unbeaten run on Monday evening. Woijech Szczesny is currently the club’s number two, while Emiliano Martinez is third choice.
Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar, admitted earlier this week that a move was imminent, saying: “Petr still has a contract that ends in a year. I can confirm, however, that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties. Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club.
“That’s the task that we are now working on, but other than that there has not been any other change in the terms of Petr Cech’s employment and the transfer period only begins on July 1.”
However, it could now be Paris, rather than North London for Cech.
