Serie A giants Roma look like they will beat Arsenal to the signing of Barcelona’s Antonio Sanabria, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 17-year-old striker is extremely highly rated, and even made his international debut for Paraguay in August this year.
Roma are ready to meet his £3.6m release clause, which could end up being a serious bargain if the youngster fulfils his prodigious talent.
Arsene Wenger wants to add another striker to the side to aide Arsenal’s title push, with Nicklas Bendtner the only fit and established backup centre-forward option for Olivier Giroud. While Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski can both play up top, Wenger has preferred to play them in wide positions.
It looks now though that Sanabria will not be arriving at the Emirates, and will be playing his football the Olympic Stadium in the Italian capital instead.
Roma are becoming an increasingly attractive proposition to players though, following their excellent first half of the Italian season. Rudi Garcia’a outfit are currently second in the table, behind perennial champions Juventus.
