The Arsenal Gunners are looking to sign St. Etienne teenage midfielder Rayan Souici to a contract ahead of the summer transfer period.
According to the Metro, Arsenal will reportedly offer the 17-year-old Souici, dubbed by some as the “new Paul Pogba”, a contract to join the club in the summer.
The comparisons to Paul Pogba could be quite apt considering that both of them moved from their homes in France to Premier League contenders when they were still teenagers. Pogba was signed by Manchester United in 2011 but made just three appearances before leaving and signing with Juventus, promptly becoming a star with 20 goals over the past three seasons.
The Metro noted that Arsenal would only have to pay compensation of less than £730,000 to the French club in order to land Souici.
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal and Liverpool have diligently been watching Souici on a weekly basis.
Souici would join a potentially lethal combination of midfielders for the Gunners with Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere if they elevate him to the starting squad by the time he turns 18 in the middle of next season.
