CM: Mikel Arteta – 4/10
Arsenal’s club captain looked every inch a 33-year-old midfielder who has not started a competitive game in 10 months. He offered his defence little protection as Zagreb frequently got in the pockets.
CM: Santi Cazorla – 6/10
Whipped in a few delicious corners with either foot early on. There is little the Spaniard cannot do with the ball at his feet, but he was cast aside whenever Dinamo broke with pace through midfield.
AMR: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6/10
Arsenal looked at their most dangerous in the first half when the winger ran with the ball, but he abandoned his defensive duties to give Pivaric a free run in the build-up to his own goal.
AMC: Alexis Sanchez – 7/10
That the Gunners lost was not because of a lack of effort from the Chilean, who seemed, before Dinamo’s second goal as though he might inspire a comeback. Arsenal’s talisman demanded the ball at every opportunity, providing his teammates with several chance and Walcott with their replying goal.
AML: Mesut Ozil – 5/10
These are the type of games that you would expect your £42.4m signing, as BBC Sport reports, to take by the scruff of the neck, but yet again Ozil went missing. He squandered a golden chance when the Gunners were only 1-0 down and put too much responsibility on the shoulders of Sanchez.
