CM: Francis Coquelin – 6.5/10
Apart from being made to look foolish once when being turned on the halfway line, Coquelin replicated the kind of performance that made him a regular last season. Strong, aggressive and composed.
CM: Mathieu Flamini – 5/10
Made little impression on the game, although his disciplined nature allowed Arsenal’s more creative players greater freedom.
LM: Alex Iwobi – 6/10
Showed lovely footwork in and around the box, but his finishing was poor and lacked calmness. He hit the target with only one of five efforts and twice blazed high when well placed.
RM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.5/10
Left his marker for dead with a couple of rapid bursts into the box from the right. Could not get among the goals, although he was unlucky to have a second-half shot brilliantly cleared off the line.
AMC: Jack Wilshere – 7/10
Played in a much more advanced role than he did in his previous outing for England, but still managed to get on the scoresheet again, calmly nestling a second-half penalty into the bottom corner.
ST: Chuba Akpom – 9.5/10
Could not do much more to prove to Wenger that he is worthy of stepping up to the first team next season, scoring only the second hat-trick in Asia Cup history. There was an element of fortune about his first, but his second (below) and third were confidently taken, one from the spot and one with his head.
