Olivier Giroud – 4/10
Olivier Giroud barely received any service at all, but the few times he did get the ball he often miscontrolled, passed to Liverpool or had an ambitious shot blocked.
Worked extremely hard as ever, but the quality was ultimately lacking.
Substitutes:
Kieran Gibbs – 6/10
Showed why he has been preferred to Nacho Monreal on most occasions this season with some far more solid play at the back when he came on at the hour mark.
Gibbs was much more intelligent in his positioning, and retained possession well. Arsene Wenger may yet rue not gambling on the fitness of the Englishman, who has come on in leaps and bounds for the Gunners in the last two years.
Tomas Rosicky – 6/10
Tomas Rosicky offered his usual energy, with the 33 year-old remarkably spritely for his age.
The Czech midfielder’s harrying of the opposition and increase of the tempo was far superior to Mesut Ozil’s lethargic play in the first half.
Lukas Podolski – 5/10
Like Olivier Giroud before him, Lukas Podolski too was starved of service up front, but the German showed a surer touch when receiving possession, and at least pushed the Liverpool defence deeper thanks to his greater pace and differing style of play.
