Olivier Giroud – 3/10
Olivier Giroud was supplied with almost no service, and his lack of support was illustrated when he shot from 50 yards instead of trying to hold the ball up for team-mates.
The France international’s failure to finish just before Chelsea’s opening goal could have been the turning point of the match too, and Arsenal will inevitably look to sign a big name striker this summer.
Substitutes:
Thomas Vermaelen – 3/10
Thomas Vermaelen came on to replace the red carded Kieran Gibbs at left back, then moved to centre back after the break when Laurent Koscielny was substituted.
He made no difference to the scoreline.
Carl Jenkinson – 4/10
Carl Jenkinson seems to be called upon by Arsene Wenger to either help see out games or prevent further embarrassment.
His introduction at half time was more of the latter, and although Jenkinson didn’t prevent further Chelsea goals, he also did not disgrace himself.
Mathieu Flamini – 4/10
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s horror show in central midfield proved that Mathieu Flamini should have started the game, but when the Frenchman was finally introduced at the break, Arsenal’s heads were already gone and he was unable to make much of an impact.
