Santi Cazorla: 7/10
Santi Cazorla supplied a wonderful set piece delivery to provide the assist for Laurent Koscielny’s opening goal, and buzzed around excellently.
Arsenal fans drooled over the prospect of Cazorla alongside Mesut Ozil, and the Spaniard’s combination play with the club’s record signing was encouraging.
Mesut Ozil: 9/10
Newcastle United were absolutely dreadful against Arsenal – particularly in the first half – but as the cliché goes, you can only beat what is in front of you.
Mesut Ozil had the beating of the Magpies from the off, and scored a fine goal himself – teaching Olivier Giroud how to finish with a fine first time effort.
He also created six shooting opportunities for his team-mates, finally getting his trademark assist with a delightful cross for Giroud to head home.
Lukas Podolski: 7/10
Lukas Podolski wasn’t quite as explosive as in recent matches, failing to get on the scoresheet, but did however get more involved in build up play than in recent weeks.
The German touched the ball 62 times, was able to take four shots, and completed 91% of his 46 passes.
He also completed a rare 90 minutes as Arsene Wenger elected to rest Ramsey, Ozil and Giroud.
