Arsenal have been made to pay for a dismal first-leg after being knocked out of the Champions League by AS Monaco – despite a 2-0 victory at the Stade Louis II.
Olivier Giroud got the Gunners underway for a historic comeback, with Aaron Ramsey netting late on too, but it wasn’t enough, as Arsene Wenger’s side fell agonisingly short in their quest to reach the last eight.
Here’s how we rate the Arsenal players’ performances…
GK – David Ospina – 6/10
A quiet night for the Colombian, but was confident on the few times he was called into action.
RB – Hector Bellerini – 7/10
Bombed up and down the right-flank, putting in some good crosses, and linked up well with Sanchez.
RCB – Per Mertesacker – 6/10
Had very little defensive work to do, yet was assured in the rare, but nervy, moments Monaco broke forward.
LCB – Laurent Koscielny – 7/10
Performed well when Monaco did attack in the second-half, and was impressive going forward.
LB – Nacho Monreal (Gibbs 83′) – 6/10
Showed immense work-rate, but failed to influence in the final third.
