Arsenal player ratings vs Monaco – Olivier Giroud stars, but striker’s heroics are in vain

RW – Danny Welbeck (Walcott 72′) – 7/10

The forward is growing in confidence in an Arsenal shirt – he didn’t shy away from the ball, continuously threatening in attack, and it was his through ball that Giroud latched on to score the opening goal.

AM – Mesut Ozil – 6/10

An impressive performance from the German, who kept the ball ticking in midfield.

LW – Alexis Sanchez – 6/10

Not the best showing from the Chilean, though his work-rate was typically first-class.
