Francis Coquelin established himself as a key part of the squad last year, but Wenger is understood to want Busquets and has instructed the board to make a move for the Spanish international.
Meanwhile, the French tactician hasn’t given up hope on Benzema either despite Real Madrid confirming that the striker was still with them in Shanghai for their pre-season tour.
The 27-year-old created a social media storm on Tuesday by posting an image of himself on a plane suggesting that he was “leaving the past behind”.
However, the Spanish giants insisted that it was an old picture taken on a private jet from his holidays, as opposed to him leaving their pre-season camp.
Nevertheless, it appears as though Wenger has identified which two stars he wants to improve his squad this summer. Now it remains to be seen whether or not the Gunners can negotiate terms with the clubs and respective players.
According to Fichajes, Wenger is reportedly preparing a £40m bid for the French international.
