How the Gunners are likely to start against the Reds.
In one of the biggest games of the FA Cup fifth round Arsenal host Liverpool in a repeat fixture of the 5-1 drubbing the north Londoners received at Anfield last Saturday.
Here’s how fanatix thinks the Gunners will line-up at the Emirates Stadium, with manager Arsene Wenger having already confirmed Santi Cazorla is out with illness, whilst Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Kim Kallstrom and Theo Walcott are all out injured.
Goalkeeper – Wojciech Szczesny
There is no looking past the Pole between the sticks, with the 23-year-old having been brilliant this term and the clean-sheet against Manchester United on Wednesday was Szczesny’s 12th of the Premier League season – more than any other ‘keeper.
Right-back – Bacary Sagna
With contract talks still apparently going nowhere there is no denying that the Frenchman has still been one of the Gunners’ best players this year, with Carl Jenkinson a poor alternative.
Centre-back – Per Mertesacker
There are some suggesting the towering German will be rested for the tie, but with club captain Thomas Vermaelen having only just returned from injury the 29-year-old will need to be included.
Centre-back – Laurent Koscielny
Alongside Mertesacker is his ever reliable defensive partner, with the duo being recognised as perhaps the best pairing in England – although the hammering by Brendan Rodgers’ side will still be sore.
Left-back – Kieran Gibbs
The Englishman is a much better choice on the left side of defence than Nacho Monreal and the 24-year-old is likely to retain his place in the back four as a result.
