Our predicted Arsenal XI for Community Shield clash.
Arsenal are set to face Manchester City this weekend, with the FA Cup winners facing the Premier League champions in the traditional season curtain raiser at Wembley.
It will be the last time for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to give his players a run-out before the first game of the Premier League season next weekend – and this is the team that we expected the Frenchman to start with at Wembley.
GK) Wojciech Szczesny – Despite missing out on the Emirates Cup last weekend, Arsenal number one Szczesny is likely to start at Wembley.
RB) Mathieu Debuchy – Made a cameo appearance in the Emirates Cup, but this will be the new signing’s real bow as an Arsenal player.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – The Frenchman will be without Per Mertesacker, making him the likely leader of the Arsenal defence.
CB) Calum Chambers – The new signing from Southampton might get a shock start in central defence with Mertesacker and Vermaelen unavailable.
LB) Kieran Gibbs – The first choice Arsenal left back should start at full back for Arsene Wenger.
