Arsene Wenger has reportedly made the Spain star his number one target and is prepared to push through a club record transfer, with Isco frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities under Carlo Ancelotti.
He became a pivotal player in Gareth Bale’s absence earlier this season, but has found himself back behind the Welshman in recent weeks, while Madrid have publicly ruled out the sale of the former Tottenham man, who’d been linked with Manchester United.
He started in a deeper role against Valencia – in the 2-1 defeat – with Luke Modric still out injured, but Arsenal feel they can prise the Spain international away in what would be their second record fee paid to Madrid.
