Arsenal are preparing to beat Manchester United to the signature Paris Saint-Germain star striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Star.
The Gunners have already made an aggressive pursuit for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, and the Premier League giants were expected to make a bid of around £45m for the French international.
However, the Gunners appear to have backed off on Benzema, as the club is unlikely to splash a mega amount of cash on both players.
Arsenal’s proposed offer for the Uruguayan international has not been revealed, however PSG are unlikely to allow the former Napoli man leave in a cut-price deal.
Arsenal are expected to have plenty of competition from Man United, who are still keen to strengthen in its front third.
Cavani scored 31 goals in 53 appearances for PSG last season, as he helped lead them to its third consecutive Ligue 1 title.
The 28-year-old has scored a total of 210 goals throughout his 10-year career.
