Goetze is said to be unhappy at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Goetze has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Arsenal after admitting he is unhappy at the Allianz Arena, reports the Mirror.
Goetze has publicly complained at a lack of first team action with the German champions during his first season with the club and speculation is brewing about the 21-year-old’s future.
“Of course I am not happy [with first-team action],” the Germany international said
“But I will continue to work hard and fight for a place in the first XI.”
Goetze made the £31.5m transfer to Bayern from rivals Borussia Dortmund last summer after coming through the academy at the Signal Iduna Park.
Since that switch the midfielder has started 29 matches for the Bundesliga holders in all competitions, helping them to the league title, semi-finals of the Champions League and a final showdown in the German cup with his former side Dortmund.
Yet having to compete with the likes of Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben has meant Goetze has not played as often as he would have liked and this dissatisfaction has attracted the interest of the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be building something of a German revolution at the Emirates Stadium currently, with players such as Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnabry residing from the nation.
Therefore Goetze would be in good company in north London, although the price that the starlet would fetch may be beyond what Wenger would be willing to pay.
