Emirates Stadium club prepare £25million bid for Fiorentina striker.
Arsenal are preparing a club record £25million summer swoop for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic, according to the Daily Mail.
Emirates Stadium manager Arsene Wenger is understood to have given up his chase of Barcelona’s World Cup winner David Villa, who was wanted in the January transfer window in a £14million deal only for the Spanish giants to turn down the approach.
Wenger was expected to return with another approach to sign Spanish international Villa in the summer, but has turned his attention to bringing Montenegro star Jovetic to the Emirates Stadium instead after receiving some positive reports from his scouting network.
Fiorentina value the 23-year-old striker, who has netted 10 times in 21 appearances for Montenegro, at around the £25million mark having splashed out £8million to buy him in 2008.
The only stumbling block to the move to Arsenal could be the price with Wenger not having paid out more than £15million for a player – that being the fee he paid to bring midfielder Andre Arshavin to the club.
