Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to again look to Bundesliga for signings this summer.
Arsenal have been linked with the signing of FC Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Julian Draxler by the Daily Express.
The Gelsenkirchen side reportedly value the 19 year-old at £15 million, and that is close to Arsenal’s transfer record.
The Gunners’ biggest signing is one of Sylvain Wiltord, Andrey Arshavin or Santi Cazorla – depending on conversion rates, inflation and up front fees, and a £15m deal for Draxler would make him another contender.
With Arsenal having £70 million to spend this summer, it is widely assumed that the transfer record will be broken by even the notoriously frugal Arsene Wenger, though the Gunners are expected to sign bigger name players than Draxler this summer.
Draxler may still be a teenager, but is already a Germany international, and his form domestically this season has led to comparisons with fellow German wunderkind Mario Goetze of Borussia Dortmund.
Draxler has nine goals and two assists this season, and can play anywhere across the line behind a striker.
He could develop into a real talent under Arsene Wenger, who is renowned for bringing out the best in young players.
