Arsenal scouts watched the defender on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal are ready to deal a heavy blow to Tottenham Hotspur after it was revealed the Gunners are now chasing Spurs key defensive target Hector Moreno.
The Gunners sent ex-Reading and Leeds United boss Brian McDermott, now a scout at the Emirates, to watch the Mexican centre back in Espanyol’s match against Valencia, according to the Daily Mail.

And Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino now look set to butt heads in the transfer market rather than a North London derby.
However, the Spurs boss may have an edge having managed Moreno whilst boss at Espanyol. Indeed, the Mexican may have already signed for the White Hart Lane outfit had he not broken his leg during the World Cup.
Moreno’s season has so far been restricted to just five appearances so far this season but now he’s fully fit he’s thought to have attracted interest from Tottenham, Swansea, Everton and Hull but you’d think the Arsenal boss was most eager to get a deal completed due to a lack of suitable cover in defence following a number of injuries to key players.
With Moreno fully fit, his name could be one that continues to crop up until his future is resolved.
