Arsenal are interested in signing French striker Loic Remy in the summer from under the noses of Newcastle United, reports the Metro.
The 27-year-old is currently on loan with the Magpies from Championship side QPR, and has enjoyed a relatively enjoyable Premier League season under Alan Pardew. He’s scored 11 goals in 20 appearances, although his strong early form has tailed off in recent months.
Arsenal badly want to strengthen the forward areas though, and could use Remy as a cheap option to help backup Olivier Giroud.
If they were to purchase Remy, they could still go in for a bigger money world-class forward, as the Frenchman’s price tag would likely be fairly minimal.
Newcastle would likely be keen on making their temporary deal for Remy permanent, although it’s likely that the strikers eyes would turn if the Gunners interest in him was serious.
