The 21-year-old has been impressing in the second tier of English football this season and the Gunners have sent scout Pat Holland to watch the defender in action.
Holland watched Mings during Ipswich’s 1-0 Championship victory over Watford on Saturday and the North London outfit are now prepared to make a move for the full-back.
The Englishman was playing non-league football less than two years ago and was signed by the Tractor Boys from Chippenham for just £10,000.
Arsene Wenger is on the search for defensive recruitment with only six first team members currently available to the Frenchman.
Usual right-back Mathieu Debuchy is out with a long-term injury, meaning that youngster Hector Bellerin has been promoted from the Under-21s, but his lack of experience means he cannot be relied upon too often just yet.
Mings only recently signed a new three-year deal at Portman Road and has therefore had a hefty £10m price-tag placed in his head.
