Arsenal are already attempting to strengthen their squad in preparation for a Premier League title challenge next season with two transfer raids on La Liga.
Arsenal are considering moves for two Spanish stars in the summer transfer market.
The Daily Mirror claim that Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and Guilherme Siqueira of Granada are on Arsene Wenger’s radar.
Morata is a long term target, having been linked with the Gunners for the best part of a year, and the Spaniard’s lack of first team opportunities at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu means he may be granted the chance to leave.
The 21 year-old striker has started just once in La Liga all season, coming on as a substitute 15 times, and given his amount of minutes on the pitch, his four league goals is actually not a bad tally.
Morata’s record with the Spanish Under-21 side is perhaps a better indication of his potential, and 13 goals in 12 appearances is a hugely impressive strike rate at any level.
A tall player at 6’2″ (187cm), Morata has won 70% of his aerial duels in La Liga, and his willingness to run the channels and set up chances for his team-mates could prove beneficial for Arsenal.
Real Madrid are willing to do business with the Gunners for £8 million – so long as they can retain the option to buy him back in two years’ time, which is reportedly proving the sticking point for Arsene Wenger.
Granada left back Siqueira is less of a prospect for the future, and would be an intriguing move with Arsenal well stocked in that position by Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal.
The 27 year-old Brazilian has spent the past season on loan at SL Benfica in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, and was linked heavily with Liverpool last summer.
While Siqueira has a £21m release clause in his Granada contract, according to the Daily Star, the Reds were hopeful of agreeing a deal for £8m before they signed Aly Cissokho instead.
Arsenal will not be at the front of the queue to sign Siqueira though – Benfica have first option on his signature due to a clause in their loan deal.
