The 19-year-old is being tipped to become a star in his native Spain, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid taking an interest in his services recently.
Wenger is keen to snap him up believing that the left-back will represent a bargain if he continues to develop at his current rate, and is now willing to meet the £13.5m release clause installed in his current deal.
Valencia, though, are keen to keep a hold of him, knowing that they no longer have to cash in on their brightest youngsters thanks to the millions of owner Peter Lim.
Los Che are set to offer him a new deal with a vastly increased release clause, as it has since emerged that Real Madrid are also interested in rivalling Arsenal for his services.
But Wenger remains convinced that he can do enough to sell Gaya the move to the Emirates before next week’s transfer deadline.
