Arsene Wenger looking to conclude a deal for the Brazilian centre back imminently.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is moving closer to completing a deal to sign Villarreal’s Brazilian central defender Gabriel Paulista, with El Periodico in Spain claiming that the Gunners are ready to up their offer to an eventual fee of £15 million, with young forward Joel Campbell also set to join the La Liga side on loan until the end of the season.

Arsenal transfer news
Gabriel has emerged as the leading defensive target for Arsenal this January as Wenger looks to avoid the issue of a lack of depth that has ravaged his back line during the season so far.
The Brazilian has been an important part of a Villarreal side with one of La Liga’s best defensive record and currently defending a long unbeaten record.
It is no surprise, then, that the club nicknamed The Yellow Submarines are demanding a significant fee to part with the former Vitoria central defender, with the addition of Campbell to the potential deal proving to be a surprise element to a transfer that now appears to largely rest on Arsenal’s ability to secure a work permit for the player.
