The Gunners have been long-time admirers of the French international, with Arsene Wenger continuing his search to find a number nine to add to his squad.
According to the Metro, claims in Spain are now suggesting that they are ready to meet the demands of Real Madrid, and will pay the fee to sign the striker ahead of the new campaign.
Benzema scored 22 goals last season and has maintained an impressive goal-scoring ratio with the Spanish giants, but he has also endured his fair share of problems at the Bernabeu.
While he is seemingly happy to stay, a bid from Arsenal could change things and now it remains to be seen whether or not Rafa Benitez is willing to let him go ahead of his first year in charge after being appointed as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement last month.
It will be a key season for the 27-year-old next year, as he will want as much playing time as possible in order to score the goals that will ensure he is picked for the French squad for Euro 2016 on home soil next summer.
