Arsenal are still attempting to upgrade their midfield, and they are not afraid to take chances on young players.
The Gunners are interested in Brazilian 17-year-old Renan, according to The Metro.
Despite his young age, Renan has already gained first-team experience with Avai.
The Gunners are reportedly impressed with the Brazilian international’s performance from when they scouted him.
In addition to increasing the Gunners’ midfield depth, Renan would boost their defence as he is primarily known as a defensive midfielder.
Their defense will improve right off the bat though, with the addition of former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Arsenal hold an advantage in negotiations for the young star, as they will not have to pay a high amount of money due to his age.
The Gunners lacked midfield depth last season, as they heavily relied on forwards Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud to carry the scoring load.
However, Renan may be the perfect long-term solution for Arsene Wenger and could even become a Raheem Sterling-type diamond in the rough.
