The Chilean tactician is under some pressure to make changes to his squad at the end of this disappointing season, which looks more than likely to end trophyless for City as they face a mountain to climb to catch Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
Modric is rumoured to be available at the end of this season as Real are hoping to bring in highly-rated Juventus youngster Paul Pogba as an extra body in midfield.
This could allow the Croatian playmaker to be sold, with City ready to try their luck with a £25m bid for the man who has previously shone in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
Wilshere also remains a top target for the club and they hope to partner the two players together in a new-look side next term.
