The Swiss, 22, limped off with a thigh injury in the 4-0 win over Freiburg after scoring twice and the Bundesliga club have confirmed he will miss the Champions League last-16 first leg against the Gunners on Wednesday.
Bayern’s official website said the Switzerland international “will definitely miss the first leg of the round 16 clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, and the Bundesliga away match at Hannover next Sunday.”
Shaqiri was the most likely candidate to replace Ribery, 30, who misses the match after undergoing surgery on his buttocks.
However, Bayern still have a host of possible midfield options, with Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben now likely to start on the flanks for the first leg in London.
