Arsenal welcome back two of their star players for Premier League run in.
Arsenal manager has confirmed that Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott will be available for this weekend’s match against Norwich City, after both suffering injuries either side of the trip to face Bayern Munich in March.
The Gunners were expected to be severely affected by the pair’s absence from the side, as both are regular first choice players, but have won each of their three matches since, and have a great chance of overhauling Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place in the Premier League.
Tomas Rosicky has performed impressively in Wilshere’s role at the peak of the Arsenal midfield triangle, scoring both goals to help the north London side to a 2-1 victory at West Bromwich Albion, and there is an argument that the team has more cohesion with him selected than the young Englishman – as talented as Wilshere has proved already in his young career.
Still, with Rosicky a doubt to face Norwich with a test on his fitness today, Wilshere may be selected to face the Canaries from the start.
Walcott’s place has been filled by Gervinho, whose statistics in those three appearances tell their own story.
In matches against Swansea City, Reading and West Brom, the Ivorian has two goals and three assists.
Though the opposition wasn’t the highest calibre in the Premier League, Gervinho’s productivity in those matches may ensure he keeps his place against Norwich.
That would enable Wenger to avoid having to gamble on Walcott’s fitness.
Arsenal fans will hope that Wilshere is 100% ready for his return too.
