Arsenal have received a major boost to their hopes of ending the season with a trophy with the news that Aaron Ramsey and Laurent Koscielny are close to returning to first team action – and Mesut Ozil won’t be far behind.
The Gunners have endured something of an injury crisis recently, with first team regulars Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Jack Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil and Theo Walcott all missing at various points in a crunch period of the season.
Arsene Wenger and his team have come under considerable criticism in recent weeks, but most teams would struggle to endure the loss of five of their key players – plus Monreal who competes with Kieran Gibbs for the left back slot.
According to the Daily Mirror, Ramsey and Koscielny are optimistic of being ready for the FA Cup clash against Wigan Athletic on Saturday 12th April, while Ozil is expected to make his return shortly afterwards to help with the season run-in.
Jack Wilshere will be next to return, with the England midfielder desperate to prove his recovery from a broken foot to earn selection for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Finally, Abou Diaby is scheduled to return to training, but Wenger has not pencilled in a comeback date for the France midfielder this season.
