Gunners facing reduced competition for Newcastle’s Yohan Cabaye.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Yohan Cabaye has been boosted after PSG’s interest in the Newcastle midfielder cooled, reports French daily L’Equipe.
The Gunners had a “derisory” £10m bid rejected by Newcastle on Monday, leaving Toon boss Alan Pardew fuming.
It is understood the Magpies want at least double that fee for the 27-year-old playmaker, who has impressed at St James’ Park since arriving from Lille in summer 2011.
L’Equipe claimed on Wednesday that mega-rich PSG were ready to offer €15m for the France international star but the newspaper have changed their tune, claiming the Ligue 1 champions’ interest has now cooled.
It is even possible that the mega-rich Parisiens will not do any more transfer business this summer.
PSG received a major boost on Thursday when reported Barcelona target Thiago Silva signed a new deal at the Parc des Princes until 2018.
