The Ivory Coast international was less than complimentary about his ex-boss.
Arsenal reject Gervinho has blasted Arsene Wenger for now showing enough faith in him during his failed spell at the Emirates Stadium.
The Ivorian forward ended an unhappy two years in north London by joining Serie A club Roma earlier this summer after scoring only nine Premier League goals following an £11 million move from Lille.
Gervinho has blamed his paltry total on Wenger playing him out of position and insists the Gunners boss didn’t give him the chance to reach his full potential as an out-and-out striker, instead preferring to leave him stranded out wide.
“I was not getting much time on the pitch and was in need of this time to improve and play my best football. Wenger was not prepared to give it to me,” he explained to The Sun.
“Also my position on the wing was not what I was expecting and I wasn’t happy with it.”
The 24-year-old was also critical of Wenger’s man management style and claims the Frenchman’s lack of faith impacted on his form, especially when supporters were getting on his back after a string poor displays.
“It would have helped had he shown more confidence in me,” he added.
