Gunners keen to add Sagna replacement quickly.
Arsenal are understood to be following Juventus full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner again this summer.
For Manchester United and Chelsea, the road to Stephan Lichtsteiner’s signature just got tougher as reports in the Daily Star have revealed that their Premier League rivals Arsenal have rekindled their interest in the Juventus right back, and wish to snap him up him this summer.
The Gunners were reported to be interested in the Swiss ace last summer, too, before the rumours died down eventually. However now, with club veteran Bacary Sagna leaving to join Manchester City, manager Arsene Wenger is in desperate need to land reinforcements for that position as Carl Jenkinson would remain his only natural player in that position.
While Lichtsteiner is known for his on-field versatility and immense experience, at 30 years of age, he may not prove to be a long term replacement for Sagna. Also, to sign the Swiss star, the Gunners would have to shell out almost £9m, which is unlikely to appeal to the frugal-minded Wenger.
Meanwhile, the north Londoners would have to make a quick move for the player if they wish to sign him, with United and Chelsea both serious about their interest in the Juventus star.
