Arsenal have moved to replace both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri with deadline day bids for two playmakers.
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have bid £10m for Everton star Mikel Arteta, while a report from the Daily Telegraph indicates Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Renato Augusto has arrived in London ahead of a possible transfer.
Suddenly Arsene Wenger would have a whole host of options in midfield – after seeing his side struggle to create chances so far in the Premier League.
Arteta is a seasoned Premier League performer, while Augusto is a mercurial talent – a fine dribbler capable of incisive passes.
He plays either in the hole, or on the right wing, but it is likely Arsenal would deploy him centrally to make best use of his vision.
