The 22 year-old signed for the Gunners in 2011 from Charlton Athletic but was unable to claim Bacary Sagna’s position before the Frenchman moved to Manchester City this summer.
Arsene Wenger promptly brought Mathieu Debuchy to Emirates Stadium to be his senior right back, and Calum Chambers joined from Southampton shortly afterwards.
With two players ahead of him in the pecking order, Jenkinson realised his chances of first team action were severely limited, and a move to West Ham United would provide a far better solution.
“It’s brilliant how it has turned out and I just want to thank the Gaffer and Mr Sullivan and Mr Gold because they put in a big push to get me here,” said Jenkinson to the Hammers’ website.
“I’m clearly seen as a big part of things here and hopefully I can prove my worth here because it is an important year for me.”
