Denis Cheryshev seems as surprised as we are that he’s received so many looks from the Premier League. Will he be heading to London this summer?
Arsenal haven’t been stopped by anything, let alone the emergence of Liverpool, in the race for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev. And that patience appears to be close to paying off.
According to the Metro, Real Madrid have finally agreed to clear an exit for the 24-year-old Russian winger. Cheryshev has quietly been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a long time and his successful loan spell with Villarreal last year attracted interest from a multitude of clubs – including the Gunners’ aforementioned Premier League rivals.
An exceptionally talented prospect from Real Madrid B, Cheryshev was a key player in the club’s ascension to Segunda Division in 2012, but was loaned out by Real Madrid to Sevilla in 2013. But a permanent deal with Sevilla wasn’t reached after the season and Cheryshev was sent to Villarreal in 2014, recording 4 goals in 26 appearances. His success with Villarreal earned Cheryshev a £14.9 million valuation, according to the Metro.
For his career, Cheryshev has 29 total goals in 155 appearances, with 7 caps for the Russian national team.
