Arsenal will today name their UEFA Champions League squad eligible to face Udinese – and both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri have been included.
Given that both Manuel Almunia and Nicklas Bendtner have also been included and are likely to leave the club, perhaps there is little significance in both Nasri and Fabregas’ inclusion.
Furthermore, Mesut Ozil was included in the Werder Bremen squad last season but transferred to Real Madrid shortly afterwards.
However, one conclusion that could be drawn is that Arsenal are sending a message to both Manchester City and Barcelona – the two clubs strongest linked with signing Nasri and Fabregas respectively.
If those clubs do not conclude a deal before next week’s UEFA Champions League ties, Arsenal will cup tie the players by selecting them.
After all, they cannot afford to miss out on the Champions League proper.
Tens of millions are at stake for Arsene Wenger – whether he keeps or sells Cesc Fabregas or Samir Nasri.
