Fiorentina keen on cultured midfielder.
Arsenal have told Fiorentina that they must pay a transfer fee of £6m to land Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta this summer, according to The Times.
The 32-year-old, who made 31 Premier League appearances last season, has just under 12 months left to run on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.
He is unlikely to be offered a new deal with the Gunners.
Fiorentina would be willing to give Arteta a two-year contract, but they are not keen on meeting Arsenal’s asking price.
The Serie A side are hopeful that Arsenal may be willing to sell the former Rangers and Everton star for around £3.2m.
Arteta joined Arsenal from Everton in August 2011. He has played in 94 Premier League matches for the North London club, scoring 14 goals.
He has featured in 30 games in other competitions, including May’s FA Cup final, which saw Arsenal beat Hull City to win their first major trophy in nine years.
